WHO We Are
Welcome to Sandpipers Nursery and School.
We provide childcare for SGU faculty, staff, students, Grenadians and visiting families.
Ms. Susanne Curry is the director of Sandpipers Nursery and School. She has been residing in Grenada for the past thirteen years. During that time she has established educational programs and external educational support programs which include curriculum development to serve the Grenadian community.
Ms. Susanne is an experienced and qualified teacher for Early Childhood Programs and primary age students. She is currently enrolled in the Master of Education program at St. George's University (SGU) and has an Early Childhood Education, Bachelors of Liberal Arts Degree with a concentration in Education. In addition to this, she also spent 2 years acquiring her Montessori Teacher certificates in Casa and Lower - Upper Elementary teaching. This certification allows her to teach children ages 3-12 years.
"Education in Grenada is a passion of mine."
Ms. Susanne not only excels at teaching young ones but also enjoys training local teachers in current child development techniques. The reason for her successes in the "training of teachers" is due to her weekly scheduled team meetings. Ms. Susanne meets every week with the teaching teams to provide suggestions, support and to discuss each child as an individual. Ms. Susanne empowers and guides her teachers in both professional and personal development.
"The teachers are my Caribbean family ~ We support each other in our personal and professional ups and downs.” We work together as a whole with the shared vision of providing the most comprehensive experiences to our children daily. I want the teachers to wake up every morning and feel appreciated and positive about the day ahead, while also being embraced by their school family."
Sandpipers follow Ms. Susanne's firm belief in the Montessori Philosophy and Approach. She is noted for making strong connections with every teacher, child, and family. These strong connections have and continue to pave the road to confidence and learning in the most holistic manner for everyone involved in the development of the children and the school.
